This is a 25″ Egyptian Khopesh | Hand-forged Full Tang Sword by Ex Gurkha Khukuri House. A khopesh is an Egyptian curved blade where the cutting edge of the blade is usually on the blade’s convex edge. The khopesh has a sickle-like shape so that the part of the blade opposite the handle has a slight hook. That’s why some scholars classify the khopesh as a sickle-sword, a type of sword found across the Nile valley, east Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent.
The Khopesh being a curved sword, was used primarily used as a cutting, slashing, and chopping weapon. It was useful in wars before the use of body armor designed to withstand slashing became widespread.
This 25″ Egyptian Khopesh is an extremely sharp sword that will provide a lifetime of faithful service. It has a 25-inch blade handmade from highly graded 5160 carbon steel. The full tang handle which is 10-inch in length is made from rosewood with hand-etched patterns that aid in a sturdy grip. It has a beautiful carbon steel dual guard bolster and a custom carbon steel round pommel. The pommel of the Khopesh is very hard and can be used for hammering. We also provide a beautiful leather sheath made from refined water buffalo leather with leather straps to carry the Khopesh on the back. Overall the Khopesh is a beautiful double-handed hunting sword that is not too big and heavy to be uncontrollable.
