The 13″ World War I Gurkha Combat Issue Khukuri (also called “kukri” or “khukri” by most people outside Nepal) is a traditional knife carried either in war or in the daily life of Nepalese households. It is a symbolic khukuri of the Nepal Army, and of all Gurkha regiments throughout the world signifying the courage and valor of the bearer on the battlefield. It is a part of the regimental weaponry and heraldry of the Nepalese Gurkha Rifle. It is known to many people as simply the “Gurkha blade” or “Gurkha knife”, or simply khukuri.
This 13″ World War I Gurkha Combat Issue Khukuri is a handcrafted khukuri therefore please note that each one might have slight variations in measurement. The blade is 13-inch long and made of Highly Graded 5160 Carbon Steel with a balanced temper on the edge of the blade, therefore making it very strong. The hand forged blade is approx. 900 grams. The handle is a 5-inch long tail tang made from yak bone. Besides carrying the knife in wartime, this blade can be used to chop wood or bone, and clean bushes. This is also called the Standard Issue in Gurkha Units as they have few other military khukuris issued on special occasions or during training.
