This 13 inch Chitlange Leather Traditional Exclusive Khukuri (also called kukri by most people outside Nepal) originated in Chitlang village in eastern Nepal where skilled bladesmith made this khukuri. This is why it is also known as Chitlange Special khukuri. Though this khukuri might look like Sirupate khukuris, the blade & handle are a bit different to those. This khukuri is very famous among Chitlang villagers who use it to chop meat & wood, clear bushes and other household purpose. Nearly every family keeps one of these khukuris at their home for pride. The notch (kaura / kauri) in this khukuri is closed to form a hole in the shape of a cow’sĀ  hoof. This part of the blade serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt.

The scabbard of this khukuri has 2 pockets for two small knives, one sharp one and one blunt one. The sharp one is called Karda which can be used to cut fruits, open cans & skin animals. The blunt knife is calledĀ Chakmak, which can be used to hone the blade or produce sparks for fire by striking with a flint.
