11″ British Army Afghan Issue Standard Khukuri | Genuine Military OEF Kukri
US$ 95.00
The 11″ British Army Afghan Issue Standard Khukuri is a military khukuri used by Gurkhas in the Afghan war. The knife is made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with a rosewood handle. It can be used to cut wood, meat, clear bushes, etc. It can also be used as a gift or a souvenir item.
This 11″ British Army Afghan Issue Standard Khukuri is one of the British Army-issued khukuri (also called as kukri and khukri by people outside Nepal) for the Gurkha soldiers who were in the Afghan war. So we have derived the name after Afghanistan. The soldiers were deployed since the war started for Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan. The Gurkha Regiment carried this exact khukuri design which was suitable in the Afghan environment making the khukuri not easily identifiable in the sandy terrain there. Therefore the British Army issued this khukuri to its OEF Gurkha soldiers.
It is about 16″ in overall length with an 11-inch Double Fullered (Angkhola Style) semi-polished blade made of highly graded 5160 carbon steel with balanced oil quenching temper. The handle is 5-inch long and is made from Rosewood. The shape of this full tang handle is different and has a finger grip. The scabbard is made of natural water buffalo leather which is in brown color that covers two pinewood pieces.
Two small knives “Karda” and “Chakmak” are also included along with this khukuri. The “karda” is sharp and is used for small cutting tasks like skinning animals, opening cans, cutting fruits, etc and “chakmak’ is blunt and is used for sharpening the blade and to create sparks with a flint.
This khukuri can be used to cut wood, meat, clear bushes, etc. The craftsmanship on this knife is amazing so if you are looking for the finest quality kukris for a “Christmas Gift” you will not be disappointed with this khukuri knife.
