15″ Blade Mukti Cleaver | Ex Gurkha Khukuri House

15” Blade Mukti Cleaver is one of our newly designed cleaver knives. A cleaver knife is called Dau in Nepali. Our team of blacksmiths (singular form known as Kaami in Nepali) forged the blade of this cleaver with 5160 high-carbon steel using traditional methods. The forging skills of our blacksmiths are passed from father to son for generations. They are master craftsmen at their work.

The high carbon steel used in the blade normally comes from used truck leaf springs and they are some of the best steel available to forge knives with extreme durability & strength. We subject the blade to a balanced tempering to give the required hardness. We’ve polished the blade of this 15-inch Mukti Cleaver giving it a slick beautiful look. The blade has a thick spine of approx. 12 mm which tapers towards the end.

We made a 6.5” full-tang handle from Rosewood for this cleaver. The handle size is comfortable and long enough for even hands with big palms to hold on to. The blade is joined to the handle at the brass bolster. We provide this cleaver knife in a beautiful wooden scabbard made of cottonwood wrapped in leather. Overall this knife is an excellent cleaver for anything that needs to be chopped or broken.

The blade weighs around 1400 gm. When used for chopping meat & bones this weight provides extra force to cut through meat and break bones. This knife can also act as an excellent defensive weapon to defend yourself from wild animals when out in the wild.
