This is 13″ Officers Vintage Historic Angkhola Khukuri. “Angkhola” means a special blade with one fuller on it. Ex Gurkha Khukuri House has done research regarding traditional khukuri blades, and found that “Angkhola” and “Budhunay” (flat), khukuri are two famous khukuris in Nepal. So, the Ex Gurkha Khukuri House has forged a new khukuri with the combination of those two famous designs and recreated the “Traditional Angkhola Khukuri”. The “fuller” on the blade helps to reduce the extra weight of the blade. The blade weighs only 650 grams without the scabbard and 800 grams with the scabbard.
The khukuri is the distinctive curved Nepalese knife that is very popular with the Gurkhas & Nepalese people. It is the basic utility knife of the Nepalese people. It is a characteristic survival blade of the Nepalese army, the Royal Gurkha Rifles of the British Army, the Gorkha regiments of the Indian army, the Singapore police, and the Royal Brunei Guard. Some English speakers refer to this knife as a Gurkha blade or Gurkha knife. The Khukuri is effective as a chopping and slashing knife. While most famed for its use in the military, the Khukuri is also one of the most commonly used multipurpose tools in the fields and homes in Nepal. It has varied uses from building, clearing, chopping firewood, digging, slaughtering animals for food, cutting meat and vegetables to skinning animals, and opening cans. It is also used as a general farm and household tool. The khukuri can be used as a survival knife or camping knife for the outdoor lovers
This 13″ Officer’s Vintage Traditional Angkhola Khukuri is a handcrafted khukuri and each one might have slight variations in measurement.
