This 11″ Authentic 2 Fuller AEOF Military Khukuri is one of the British Army Issue khukuris (also called as kukri or khukri by western people) for those who served in the Afghan war. It was used by the Gurkha soldiers from the British Army during their mission Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan (OEF). The Gurkha army carried the same khukuri design which was fit for the Afghan environment. Therefore this was a khukuri issued by the British Army to the Gurkha Regiments serving in Afghanistan.
Materials & Measurements:
It is about 16.5-inch in overall length (tip to pommel). The blade is an 11″ double layer or Fullered (Chirra) semi-polished which is made of highly graded 5160 carbon steel. The blade has a balanced oil quenching temper on the edge to make it very strong. As it is made of carbon steel you can also sharpen it as you wish with the utility knife provided with the khukuri.
The handle is about 5.5″ long from guard to pommel and is made from rosewood. It is a full tang handle where the blade runs through the entire length of the handle making it super strong. There is a finger grip on the handle and an extended tang with a lanyard hole that is made to facilitate a wrist cord.
The scabbard is made out of cottonwood wrapped in a brown-colored natural water buffalo leather. The scabbard has a leather loop with a fasten-up style in the front with two frogs.
Use:
This is an official Army Knife but besides carrying this kukri in military combat and training, it can be used to chop wood or bone and clear bushes. You can pack it in your backpack for outdoor adventures like camping, hunting, and safaris.
A set of utility knives Karda and Chakmak come along with this khukuri. There is a blunt knife called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade & for creating a spark by striking it with a flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning small animals such as rabbits & hares.
