This is 12″ Authentic World War Historic Khukuri | Hand-Forged Traditional Full Tang WWI Kukri by Ex Gurkha Khukuri House. It is a reproduction of the old World War I khukuri (also called Kukri or Khukri by many people outside Nepal). This khukuri is very famous among military knife collectors because of the fact that very design of this khukuri was carried & used by the Gurkha soldiers of the British Army in hand-to-hand combat in the jungles of Burma during World War I.

The 12″ Authentic World War Historic Khukuri is made of highly graded 5160 carbon steel. It has a very sharp semi-polished blade with a balanced oil-quenching temper and is therefore very strong. The knife has a beautiful shape that has a broad and more curved blade than other standard khukuris and is perfect for cutting and slashing. The full tang handle is about 5 inches in length and is made from rosewood. We can clearly see the metal part of the handle in between two rosewood pieces which are strongly riveted to the handle metal pins. This type of handle is excellent for heavy-duty work as the impact of the blade is evenly distributed throughout the blade and to the user’s hand respectively.

The scabbard is made from pinewood wrapped in genuine water buffalo leather. The scabbard has a beautiful hand-etched metal tip called Chape that protects the pointed tip of the blade from damage while you are not using the blade.

The khukuri played a very significant role in creating the history of the Gurkha soldiers. It is a very useful knife to use for any kind of heavy work. It can be used to chop wood, firewood, bone, clear bushes, etc.

The notch (kauri or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of the kukri serves as a conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing an enemy blade.

It has two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for creating sparks by striking it to a flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning small animals such as rabbits.

The blade, handle, scabbard, and even the small utility knives are crafted with a high-end finish. They are handmade by Kaamis (singular: Kaami; Nepalese blacksmiths) who mostly belong to the Bishwakarma caste which is an ethnic group of traditional craftsmen of Nepal who have been forging khukuris for generations with the best quality materials in a traditional forging method by using traditional hand tools.
