This is 18.5″ Traditional 2 Chira Sirupate Khukuri | 2 Fuller Outdoor Hunting Kukri. It is a traditional Sirupate khukuri used by the people living in the rural villages of Nepal. The name “Sirupate’” is derived from the word “Siru” which is a species of grass that has very narrow and sharp leaves. Unlike other types of khukuris the blade of the Sirupate khukuri is very narrow that provides for razor-sharp cutting. The sirupate design of this khukuri is accompanied by 2 Fullers which makes the blade light compared to its size. The blade is less bent at the spine and it is not as wide as other knives.

The 18.5″ Traditional 2 Chira Sirupate Khukuri has a long blade that is 18.5-inch in length. We have hand forged this blade from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with an unpolished finish. Our blacksmiths known as Kaami in Nepal who mostly belong to the “Bishwakarma” caste, have forged this blade using traditional methods and hand tools. Kaamis are an ethnic group of people in Nepal who are professionals in the art of khukuri making. They are the inheritors of the expert metalsmiths who forged strong & durable khukuris for the kings and the military of the then-Kingdom of Nepal.

We have made a very beautiful and practical handle which is 8.5-inch in length. It is a strong full tang handle and is made from hard rosewood. There are etchings on the handle that not only looks good but also provides for better grip while using the khukuri. We provide you this khukuri with a scabbard made from pinewood wrapped in refined water buffalo leather. There is a beautiful chape at the tip of the scabbard made from brass with beautiful etched designs. Overall the khukuri is strong in quality and beautiful in design.

This is a very useful knife for light to heavy work. It can be used to chop wood & firewood, cut meat & bones, clear bushes, etc. Nowadays Gurkha soldiers from the British Army also use similar but small kinds of Sirupate khukuri for jungle training. Nepalese people use this size of khukuri for collecting firewood and slaughtering animals from small animals like goats to big animals like water buffalo, yaks, etc. You can also take this knife on hunting where you can use it to finish off the kills and chop it for food or skin it for the hide.

There are two small utility knives (Karda & Chakmak ) in the pocket at the back of the scabbard. Chakmak is a blunt steel knife that is used for sharpening the blade or for creating a spark with a flint. The other little sharp knife is Karda which is used for skinning small animals such as rabbits or for cutting fruits.
