This traditional handmade Nepalese Axe called Bancharo in Nepali is similar to a tomahawk (also referred to as a hawk). This axe resembles to the traditional hatchet with a straight shaft. The name came into the English language in the 17th century as an adaptation of the Powhatan (Virginian Algonquian) word. Tomahawks were general-purpose tools used by Native Americans and European colonials alike and often employed as hand-thrown weapons. The metal tomahawk heads were originally based on a Royal Navy boarding axe and used as a trade item with Native Americans for food and other provisions. Many of our customers from around the world wished to own a Nepalese handmade Tomahawk Axe forged in Nepal so we have released this one to fulfill our customer’s wish.

The handle of the Nepalese Axe (Bancharo) | Single-Handed Axe | Hand-Forged Hawk Axe handle measures 18″ in length. The axe head has a 3” blade made of 5160 High Carbon Steel, ensuring extra durability and strength. The axe head and the handle are joined at the base of the head where the handle goes through the blade. The wooden handle is designed to be extremely durable & comfortable. The axe head is also easy to sharpen and has been carefully oil-quenched to achieve optimal tempering. Its spine hardness ranges from 22-25 RC, while the belly hardness stands at 45-46 RC and the edge hardness at an impressive 58-60 RC.
